When you walk into the studio, this is what you will see: looms made in America with the backdrop of the American flag, supporting the philosophy that if we did it once, we can do it again. That is making the handmade once more in America. When there are no jobs, it's time to get creative. When you visit Ms. Fazio’s studio, this is what you can expect.
Ms. Fazio volunteers at the Dighton Public Library and hosts sustainable craft workshops.
Ms. Fazio is a contract weaver for Hetty Friedman's, Crafts for a Cause. She likes to pair up her natural dyed silks with the finished Mobius shawls. She is a lover of monochromatic color. Here are some of the women who are proud owners of these works of wearable art.
The Fall River Cultural Council supports local artists. “Hands to the Loom; Weaving a Collective Memory” is a grant Ms. Fazio received in 2013. She invited the public to share their memories of the textile mills of the South Coast.
The finished piece is currently on view at the Trescott Street Gallery in Taunton, Massachusetts. Ms. Fazio is currently working on a new grant project to launch in the spring of 2014.
